For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom. Post your responses on your blog page you created for this class.
The Use of Audio Technology
--Traditional Cassette Player/Recorder and CD player
This technology is helpful in recording audio, like a lecture or other sounds and information, as well as a way for students to be read to and follow along. Many CD's that come with books, for example, may have a different inflection or voice for each character, and represent what a good reader should sound like. CD players can also play music of any kind, historical or otherwise.
--Emerging Oral Journals
This allows students to capture and reflect on thier own thoughts through their own voice. They can be saved and reflected to later, like asking students to orally record their thoughts on what they believed fifth grade would be like, and replaying and reflecting their new thoughts at the end of the fifth grade year.
The Use of Visual Technology
--Traditional Objects, Art, Models, etc
These can be used to highlight things and provide hands-on learning. One example may be passing around a fossil for students to see and feel. Another may be a map showing Civil War battle plans. An example for a model mights be making atoms or a project like making a model of a solar system.
--Emerging Projected Media
Projected media would include the use of projectors and computers on an interactive whiteboard. Students and teachers can interact with the board and the computer that assists the projector. One example would be the ability to disect a frog on the SmartBoard or Promethean Board. Another would be to watch a War documentary and show a Powerpoint presentation with notes for assisting a lecture with notes for students.

Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom Response
Question: Based on the information in chapter 6, would you prefer to teach in a classroom that had more or less digital technologies? Why or why not?
Based on the information on Chap. 6, I would definately prefer to teach at a school with more digital technology. Not only does more technology mean limitless learning, it also means that each student will have access (no students would be forced to share and/or miss out on learning opprotunites through technology). In Chapter 6 on page 145 it reads, "Once you have computer systems in the classroom, the possibilities for expanding their capabilities by the addition of digital peripherals are enormous". Some examples of this are SmartBoards and Promethean boards, projectors, computers, scanners, printers, cameras, and many more; all of which are great in assisting teachers and enhancing lesson plans and learning. Although some cons include students becoming distracted and getting off task with the help of technology, in my opinion, the benefits far out weigh the cons and I would much rather have technology than not.

Fav Super Bowl Commercial
My favorite Super Bowl Commercial was the Snickers commercial. I love Snickers, and the commercial was also really funny, highlighting how eating a Snickers can heal any ailment, whether it be whininess, or getting leveled by a log. The commercial was about loggers hard at work, who because of their ailments, had turned into whiny celebrities (Roseanne Barr and Richard Lewis), which was only repaired after eating a Snickers Bar, allowing said loggers to get back to normal and continue logging. Super funny:)
